About Veritas Forums

Veritas Forum

Where does morality come from? Isn't science rapidly approaching a complete explanation of nature? Do you ever have doubts about your worldview? Where can I find meaning and fulfillment?

College students around the world are asking themselves and their friends these questions, but there is often no real place to explore these questions alongside brilliant faculty and leading thinkers.

Veritas Forums are university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life.

Veritas Forums are created and hosted by campus student organizations, connected to a network of 70 campuses nationwide, and supported by the national Veritas Forum team.

Tishler Hall Exley 150

Science is an incredibly powerful tool ... can it make religious explanations obsolete? Is the Bible inconsistent with science? Are science and faith at war? Ian Hutchinson, professor of nuclear science and engineering at MIT, will be sharing his perspective at The Veritas Forum at Wesleyan University.

We are anticipating a full house for Ian Hutchinson's presentation! The event is open to the public, but student ID holders will be given priority seating so that Wesleyan students have the first opportunity to see Ian Hutchinson.

History at Wesleyan

relativism

In 2012, The Veritas Forum at Wesleyan hosted "True For You, But Not For Me: Is There Wisdom in Relativism?a deep conversation about epistemology and ethics. What is truth, both objective and relative? What are some helpful ways to think "relativistically" about truth? Two philosophers provide differing and occasionally complementary perspectives. Greg Ganssle of Yale provided a Christian perspective; Elise Springer of Wesleyan provided a Pragmatic perspective.
