About Veritas Forums

Veritas Forum

Where does morality come from? Isn't science rapidly approaching a complete explanation of nature? Do you ever have doubts about your worldview? Where can I find meaning and fulfillment?

College students around the world are asking themselves and their friends these questions, but there is often no real place to explore these questions alongside brilliant faculty and leading thinkers.

Veritas Forums are university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life.

Veritas Forums are created and hosted by campus student organizations, connected to a network of 70 campuses nationwide, and supported by the national Veritas Forum team.

Good God?

Faith and Reason in the Face of Suffering

John Lennox - Professor of Mathematics, University of Oxford

Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 7:00 PM
McMurtry Auditorium, Duncan Hall

What kind of God would allow so much suffering in the world? Is this the final, iron-clad proof that God does not exist? Or could some kind of knowable God still be behind this pain-filled universe? In either case, how can we make sense of suffering? Join Oxford math professor John Lennox at The Veritas Forum as he delves into the question of suffering.

We are anticipating a full house for John Lennox's presentation! The Forum will be held in McMurtry Auditorium inside Duncan Hall (not to be confused with McMurtry College or Duncan College), with simulcast available in surrounding classrooms. The event is free and open to the public, but Rice ID holders will be given priority seating. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
